In line with advice from the Victorian Chief Health Officer, the Victorian Government has announced that 10 "hotspot” postcodes will return to Stage 3 Stay at Home restrictions from 11:59pm on Wednesday, 1 July 2020.
This decision was made in response to increasing evidence of significant community transmission of COVID-19 in 36 suburbs across Melbourne’s inner north, west and north-west.
The affected postcodes and suburbs are as follows:
The Real Estate Institute of Victoria (REIV) confirmed the restrictions would extend to in-person auctions and open for inspections for the next four weeks, with both being banned for a second time in Melbourne’s COVID-19 hotspots.
“Any return of restrictions is frustrating for all involved, but the real estate sector is prepared to do what’s required to help curb COVID-19,” Ms Calnan said.
"Victorian real estate is incredibly resilient. Virtual inspections, online auctions and video calls will continue to keep clients and investors engaged," she said.
Suburbs not under lockdown can continue to operate open for inspections and public auctions with up to 20 registered people, according to the state government.
Restrictions will be in place until at least 29 July 2020.
